The Secretary General and leader of the newly formed Gambia Jamaa Party (GJP) has alleged receiving several death threats since he announced the formation of his party.

Ebrima Sorreh Bah said unidentified individuals using private numbers called him and instructed him to drop the registration of his political party and threaten to kill him should he continue with it.

“My life is at risk. I’m not even at home. Since the news of the formation of my political party got into public knowledge, I am receiving many threats. I am going to report to the police the private numbers the people are calling me with,” he told Kerr Fatou.

Ebrima alleged that the said callers demanded him to drop the registration of his political party- Gambia Jamaa Party.

“They are calling me with private numbers with strange voices asking me to drop the registration. Don’t I have the right to form a political Party? What is wrong if I form a political Party?” he said.

Prior to the formation of his political party, Ebrima was the leader of ‘Gambia for 5 Years’, a  group which is widely regarded as pro-government, set up to counter the ‘3 Years Jotna’ group which demanded President Barrow to resign after the 3 years campaign promise he made to the people as candidate of the coalition 2016.
