UN PRE-SAAT

Seventy (70) policewomen of the Gambia Police Force on Monday commenced the UN PRE-SAAT training delivered by the Norwegian SAAT team.
The training is meant to enhance the capacities of the personnel in UN peacekeeping operations.
Commissioner Lamin L.K.Bojang, reminded them of the importance of their responsibility.
He told the participants that they would be tasked to train and prepare other officers before, they are deployed in the UN peacekeeping missions.
Commissioner L.K.Bojang said it’s ‘important and sensitive’ to have more women officers in all aspect of peace keeping missions, given the importance role they play.
“The office of the inspector general of police plays a very important role to enhance our female participate in the UN peacekeeping operations; and during our visit to the UN, we really praised the importance we attach to having our female officers improve in the UN peacekeeping operations. And its because our efforts and other efforts, we able to have this honourable people (Norwegian SAAT team) who are here to share their experience with you,” he said.
Bojang urged the participants to take good use of the 10-day training to be able to share the knowledge with their colleagues.
Also speaking, Commissioner Ramou Sambou shared her experience with the participants saying, “it will not be a task for them because it needs all thier time and energy.”
Ann-Kristin Kvilekval, head of training team assured the participants that her team would do its best to support them with their experience.
