A five-day guidance and Counselling boot camp for migrant returnees kicked off earlier on Monday.
The training is meant to provide guidance and counselling for migrant returnees to be reintegrated into society upon their arrival.

Speaking at the opening, Alagie Jarjue, the Executive Director of the National Youth Council assured the returnees of his institution’s support in assisting them.

“NYC has been assisting migrant returnees to the Gambia and we will continue to help you (returnees). Some people think that our help should always be monetary aspect. No, it is not all about money but also helping the returnees with psychological guidance is very important.

“Of course, we will support you with money, but we will also help you in guidance and counselling as well. Because to be integrated into the society with proper psychological and mental health services is indeed very important as well,” Mr Jarjue said.

Meanwhile, Ndegen Jobe, the Deputy Speaker of the National Youth Parliament said migrant returnees need guidance and counselling that is why they are organising such a programme for them.

“Returnees need our help; they need the help of the society. The returnees should be assisted in their journey to integrate into society. The National Youth Parliament will continue helping the migrant returnees in all aspects of their lives,” Jobe said.

The training commences on 14th March will run-up to 18th of March 2022.
