The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) has projected 150, 000 tourists for this year’s tourist season which began last week.

“Last year we had air arrivals of 89, 000 and there were hardly any flights like the TUi UK, TUI HOLLAND, CORENDON AND TAP with the inclusion of Air France. With this in mind, if all things been equal, my projection can be 150, 000 for 2021-2022 tourism season,” said Adama Njie, Director of Marketing, GTBoard.

He added that GTBoard is hoping to have a tour operator/ airline flying from Ukraine to Banjul once a week, which would be an added value to tourism in The Gambia as a new emerging market for destination Gambia.

After almost 2 years, the tourist season due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2021-2022 season commenced last week with the maiden flight carrying 182 tourists.
