The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) said that the alleged 300L fuel theft from its equipment in Jabang has halted its work amid floods in the settlement, following heavy rains last month.
The NDMA West Coast Region Coordinator, Madam Binta Sey-Jadama disclosed this to Sheriff Abba Sanyang, Minister of Lands during his visit to the flood affected areas in the region, earlier today.
“We bought 150 litres the day before yesterday (Monday). It was stolen. We bought another 150 litres yesterday (Tuesday) that one also was stolen. We lost 300 litres now, and we need fuel to drain water out. The Excavators are currently empty, and our work has stopped because the fuel has been stolen from the Excavators,” she told the Minister.
Meanwhile, Buba Sanyang, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Lands, promised to supply the National Disaster Management Agency with fuel to continue their work today.
