In the ongoing civil lawsuit brought forth by Abdoulaye Thiam against his former fiancée, Aisha Fatty (1st defendant), the plaintiff has presented his initial witness.
The first witness, Amadou Matarr Jallow, hailing from Sukuta and engaged in foreign exchange business, testified in court. Mr. Jallow affirmed his acquaintance with Abdoulaye Thiam and confirmed his knowledge of the first defendant, Aisha Fatty, stating that he became acquainted with her through the plaintiff.
During his testimony, Mr. Jallow acknowledged signing his witness statement and verified its authenticity before the court, leading to its admission into evidence.
Under cross-examination, Mr. Jallow clarified that he was unaware of the nature of the relationship between Abdoulaye Thiam and Aisha Fatty. He also stated that he lacked knowledge regarding the amount of money Abdoulaye Thiam had transmitted to Aisha Fatty.
Despite his familiarity with the parties involved, Mr. Jallow maintained ignorance about the financial transactions between the plaintiff and the first defendant.
Upon completion of cross-examination, Hon. Justice Ebrima Jaiteh inquired if the State Counsel representing the Inspector General of Police had any questions for the witness. The state counsel affirmed that she had no queries at that time.
Subsequently, Hon. Justice Jaiteh adjourned the proceedings to November 29, 2023, scheduled for 11 a.m.
Background of the Case
Abdoulaye Thiam, the plaintiff, is suing Fatty, his former fiancée, for allegedly breaching their engagement promise. He claims that the breach has caused him emotional distress and embarrassment. Thiam is also suing the Inspector General of Police, Abdoulie Sanyang, who is the second defendant in the civil suit.
