Abdou Sowe, the National Assembly Member for Kombo East, addressed residents of Kombo East, Brikama North, and Brikama South during the President’s Meet The People Tour in Kuloro on Monday. He took aim at social media users who have been critical of President Barrow, asserting that anyone who criticizes the president online is, in effect, accusing him.
“What we know on president Barrow’s administration, anybody that is speaking the truth, anybody that criticizes president Barrow on social media then you are accusing him. If he doesn’t forgive you, then God will judge you. That is why I resign so I can be an independent candidate so that I can affiliate myself to anybody that will bring development to Kombo East. I am not praised singing anybody, I’m not following anybody so that I can stay longer in my position,” He Said.
Sowe also dismissed those who use social media platforms to criticize the president, labeling them as “jokers” and “haters.”
“You set on your radio, YouTube channel and saying whatever you like, you cannot even give a cup of sugar to anyone you are a joker and hater. Gambia will only go forward with good intentions and only a person with good intentions can you run this country and if you are not like president Barrow you cannot do that, “I will not set at any social media platform replying to criticism, nobody will corrupt me, nobody can intimidate and no one will take my work behind, and I am representing my people ably in the Assembly apolitically to see to it that the country moves forward,” He Said.
Sowe emphasized that he would not engage in responding to criticism on social media, remaining steadfast in his commitment to serving his constituents without intimidation.
The NAM further underscored that no cabinet minister has ever presented anything in parliament that goes against the interests of the people.
“No cabinet ministers has ever brought anything in the parliament that is against the state, then why would you want us to reject the agenda of president Barrow and his development programs? You want to sabotage and undermine president barrow so that you can be the president,” He Said.
He concluded by urging Gambians to be mindful of those who speak ill of others, stressing that such negativity can harm the nation.
“I am telling The Gambia people that, let’s be mindful, anybody that speaks ill of another person then he is the bad person. You are not going to the garden, you cannot manage your business, you are not empowering the youth, and you want to infiltrate the youth, and in-sighting them, you will bring chaos which is very bad, we have to be very mindful and fair to ensure that the country move forward,”
