The Gambia Police Force commemorates the lives of fallen officers, PC Sang J. Gomez and PC Pateh Jallow, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty at the Sukuta Traffic Lights one year ago Thursday.

“Today is exactly one year since their passing. In line with service tradition, we will hold such remembrance parades to honour them for their commendable service to the people of The Gambia. I humbly call on all Gambians to remember the fallen heroes and pray for their gentle souls to find eternal rest,” IGP Touray said.

IGP Touray also described policing as a noble profession, but a dangerous job that comes with high risks to men and women in uniform.

“Despite the attendant risks, every day we suit up and show up for no other reason but the love of our country. We want to take this opportunity to commend the gallant men and women of The Gambia Police Force for their steadfastness and dedication to duty. The Senior Management of Gambia Police Force is grateful to you and your families who let you serve your country despite the dangers,” IGP Touray said.

Momodou Sowe, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, who was also present at the remembrance ceremony, added, “Today, as we remember Officers Sang J. Gomez and Pateh Jallow, we are reminded of the values that drive our commitment to public safety: duty, sacrifice, and service to others. Their legacy is carried forward by each of us, and it is our responsibility to honour their memories by upholding these values in everything we do.”
