The Chairman of the commission of inquiry probing the financial dealings of the former President Yahya Jammeh, Surahata Janneh, has extended its mandate to the 30th November, 2018.
In a public notice dated 9th August, the Commission said its decision to extend the life of the Commission are to “complete public hearing and the compilation and the writing of its report”.
This signals the end of the mandate of the Commission which started since July 2017.
On the 26th of June, the National Assembly approved an amount of D300,000 for each of the Commissioners and extended the life of the Commission for three additional months.
This extension is the third since the inception of the Commission in July 2017.
