Jammeh’s mother, Asombi, passed away
The mother of Gambia’s former President Yahya Jammeh has died in Equatorial Guinea following a brief illness, his party’s executive member Rambo Jatta has confirmed to Kerr Fatou.
Fatou Asombi Bojang has died on Friday afternoon after an undisclosed illness.
Bojang has left with her only child into exile in Equatorial Guinea following his election defeat on December 1, 2016.
Jammeh, accused of widespread human rights violations, lost elections to President Adama Barrow but refused to step down prompting the military intervention of regional forces who are still in the country.
He was later forced into exile in Equatorial Guinea with his mother.
