UNFPA commemorates world population day
The Gambia together with the National Population Commission Secretariat, joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Population Day, on the theme “Family Planning is a Human Right”.
Beginning with a March-Pass from QCell to the Westfield Youth Monument, the commemoration brought together hundreds of young people, government officials, religious and community leaders, among others.
The ceremony was graced by the Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare – Dr. Isatou Touray, the Lord Mayor of KMC – Talib Ahmed Bensouda, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Vice President –Mrs. Saffie Sankareh, among other personalities.
The UNFPA representative in The #Gambia, Kunle Adeniyi, used the occasion to call on the government of The #Gambia, to fulfill its commitment to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health care and reproductive rights, including family planning services and information.
