Tuesday evening: The TRRC Chairman Dr. Lamin Sisay and team were sure the report was ready to be finally submitted to the president on Thursday Sept. 30, after July postponement.
Tuesday evening: The TRRC had planned to hold a press conference/briefing on Thursday afternoon after it had submitted its report to the president – to brief journalists about the report. The exact time and venue were to be disclosed by Wednesday evening.
Wednesday morning: Sources at State House said there was no event scheduled for President Barrow for Thursday about the submission of the TRRC report.
Wednesday morning: Dr. Sisay, commissioners and other staff held a meeting to finalize discussions about submitting the report. Before the meeting, he was sure the report was ready and would be submitted. A few moments before a corresponding document of the report was to be sent to the Justice Minister, it emerged at the meeting that some parts of the final report were incomplete, to the surprise and frustration of Dr. Sisay. Credible sources say he was visibly angry when this was brought to his attention.
Wednesday morning (later): Dr. Sisay and his deputy Adelaide Sosseh went into a meeting with Justice Minister Dawda Jallow. We can’t confirm if anyone else from the TRRC was in this meeting. One of the documents (part of the report package) was handed over to Minister Jallow.
Wednesday (late morning to early afternoon): Chairman Sisay and team held another ‘emergency’ meeting at the TRRC premises in Kotu for further talks. By this time, there was confusion over whether or not the submission of the report was going to go ahead as planned. There was total silence from the TTRC.
Wednesday night: The TRRC insiders confirmed the postponement of Thursday’s submission of the report. They gave no reason.
Thursday morning: Chairman Sisay and team went into another meeting.
Thursday afternoon: The TRRC put out a press release to officially announce the postponement, adding that four of the 16 volumes were yet to be completed. It gave no new date for the submission of the report. It mere said the “final phase of its work will not be prolonged.”
