Suspected thieves allegedly stole a safe containing D60, 000, two laptops costing D36, 000 and a wireless costing D3, 500.
The incident occurred on Friday in Sinchu Alhagie in the Kombo North District, in the West Coast Region.
The safe and wireless belong to one Faraba Komma, while the laptops belong to his daughter and son.
“My father’s second compound in Sinchu Alhagie was invaded by thieves while he came home at Tabokoto [his first compound] with my brother who lives in that compound [Sinchu Alhagie], to visit the family. They [suspected thieves] entered my father’s bedroom and uprooted his safe from the wall where he kept over D60, 000 dalasi,” Fatima Komma, Faraba’s daughter confirmed to Kerr Fatou.
However, she is convinced that the suspects will not be able to easily operate the sold safe.
“We believe the safe will spend some time with the thieves, because it will be very hard for them to open with any ordinary material unless they visit [a] welder’s shop or technicians to unlock the Safe,” she expressed.
Fatou said her family noticed the incident when his brother [resident of the compound] returned to the compound after visiting the main family compound in Tabokoto, and, “found everywhere disorganized and all the doors were opened”.
She added that other valuable materials were also stolen by the suspects including two laptop computers, and wireless. One of the laptops is valued at D27, 000; the other costs D8, 000; while the wireless costs D3, 500, said the daughter.
Komma on behalf of her father appeals to the public, especially those living in the Kombos to kindly report to them, if they see anyone with the safe and others.
The matter was reported at Kunkujang police station on the same day.
