Gambia’s vice president Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang is leaving for Turkey for an emergency ministerial meeting by Organization of Islamic Cooperation on excesses of Israel forces on Palestinian protesters
The information minister Demba Ali Jawo has told Xinhua news agency that The Gambia is concerned about the ongoing crisis in Palestine that left dozens killed.
“The Gambia government is definitely very much concerned with what is going on Palestine for the very fact that so many people have lost their lives in this period. It is a very big concern to the government,” he said.
Jawo said Gambian Vice President Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang would leave for an emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), taking place in Turkey on Friday.
“I can assure you that this is the very issue they are going to discuss there because virtually most countries of the world particularly members of the OIC are very much concerned about what is going on in the occupied territories,” he said.
Mass protests of Palestinians took place in the Gaza Strip on Monday when the U.S. embassy was transferred from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
At least 60 Palestinians, including six children, were reportedly killed and more than 1,300 others injured by live ammunition and rubber bullets, said UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov. Enditem
