Gambian journalists mourn death of Veteran Ba Trawally

The Gambian media fraternity mourned the demise of veteran journalist Ba Trawally.

Ba succumbed to death earlier today.

Following his death, key figures in the media fraternity paid tributes to him for his service to the profession and country by extension.

Sherrif Bojang Jr. President of Gambia Press Union (GPU) posted: “Rest in peace Ba Trawally. Thank you for your service to journalism.”

Former GPU Vice President, Mustapha K. Darboe remarked: “Ba Trawally embodies the dream of that first generation of our independence leaders. He embodies their struggles, their vision, hard work and passion for the Gambia. He, with others, kept the republic. We are because they were! As you join our ancestors, our collective testimony is that you did well. You stood for the republic and we shall remember you to death.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Kerr Fatou said: “Rest in Peace Uncle Ba Trawally, and thank you for your services and dedication to this noble profession. My sincere condolences to my friend Jamil Trawally , ST and the rest of the family.”

Trawally is praised for his stance towards press freedom and support in nurturing young journalists in his more than 40 years of journalism experience.

May his soul rest in peace.
