Fabakary Tombong Jatta, the interim leader of the opposition party, Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), has called on the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Ba Tambedou to resign for misleading the people.

Mr. Jatta, who was speaking at a press conference today in Tallinding, said that the Attorney General, who doubles as Legal Adviser to President Barrow, misled the country with his recent statement about the sales of properties recommended by the Janneh Commission.

“Ba Tambedou misled the entire nation with his statement which followed a ruling by the Court of Appeal that states that commissions of enquiry such as the Janneh Commission which lead to the issuing of government White Paper(s) cannot make enforceable judicial orders that are capable of execution.”

Mr. Jatta noted that the Justice Minister Ba Tambedou’s statement falsely claimed that the Gambia Court of Appeal’s ruling did not in any way state that the Janneh Commission recommendations cannot be enforced.

“Ba Tambadou is one of those people who continue to talk about Human Right violations and other bad things done under the former regime while making themselves busy looting Yahya Jammeh’s properties,” he alleged.

According to him, the former President Yahya Jammeh had over seven thousand Cattle in his home village of Kanilai, adding the the government’s sanctioned commission sold all except for about 720 that remain.

“After selling all those Cattle, nobody knows the whereabout of both the money and the remaining 720 Cattle. We now know and have seen some ministers who own a Cattle farm immediately after Jammeh’s Cattle were sold,” he said.

He added that the APRC party would have been happy if the returns on the properties sold by the government were made to benefit the country instead.

He alleged, “the sale of every Yahya Jammeh property has been masterminded by the Attorney General and Legal Adviser to President Adama Barrow.”

He equally alleged that Jammeh’s cars that were each worth over two million dalasis were sold to some people notably ministers at a very cheap price of about hundred thousand dalasis each.
