Signing Ceremony Between Lamin Village Development Committee & Menmar Group

Lamin Village is set to witness a major boost in youth sports and recreation following a groundbreaking agreement between the Lamin Village Development Committee (LVDC) and Menmar Sporting Academy.
The landmark partnership, signed on Sunday, paves the way for the construction of a modern multipurpose sporting facility designed to empower young people through athletics and community engagement.
The upcoming facility will cater to various sports, including football, basketball, and athletics, serving as a hub for training, competitions, and local events. Beyond sports, the initiative is expected to strengthen community bonds, encourage social participation, and create economic opportunities, leaving a lasting impact on Lamin Village and its neighboring communities.
Speaking on the vision behind the project, stakeholders emphasized its role in promoting active lifestyles and providing a platform for young athletes to develop their talents and pursue higher levels of achievement.
Jammeh E. Bojang, Chairman of the Lamin Village Development Committee, expressed deep appreciation to Menmar Sporting Academy for choosing Lamin as the site for this transformative project. He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to working closely with the academy to ensure the initiative’s success, promising unwavering support in bringing the vision to reality.“This project is to enhance the development of our youth. We always say some of these phrases, health is wealth, the youth are the future, but do we stand by this? This is what this project is all about, to develop our young people to be healthy and wealthy,” He Said.
Bori Darboe, the Honorary Chairperson of the Menmar Group in The Gambia, hailed the agreement as a major milestone in advancing sports in Lamin. He highlighted that the partnership would be instrumental in expanding sporting opportunities for the youth of Lamin Village, offering them the platform and resources necessary to develop their talents and achieve their sporting aspirations.
“Lamin, as a community, has been a bedrock in our football development. But Lamin has been overlooked for far too long. Most of our talented footballers, came from Lamin. If you know the history of Gambian football, our key players that traded in our fields across the Gambia and across Africa, most of them are citizens or dwellers of Lamin. So Lamin is an important community when it comes to sports in the Gambia,” he said.
The Ward Councillor of Lamin Ward, Mbemba Touray, emphasized the importance of establishing a sporting center in his community, noting that the facility will play a crucial role in nurturing and developing young people in Lamin.
Similarly, Lamin Kanteh, CEO of Menmar, underscored the significance of the center, highlighting its potential impact on the growth and well-being of the Lamin community.
