Mbemba Drammeh’s Wife Released on Bail, Ordered to Report on Wednesday

Sira Touray, wife of Mbemba Drammeh, has been released on bail following questioning regarding her husband’s passport, which he allegedly obtained on January 20, 2025.

Touray was granted bail with a bond set at D100,000. A family member told Kerr Fatou that authorities questioned her about the passport, which was reportedly received by her.

“They asked her about a passport that Mbemba Drammeh obtained on the 20th of January 2025, they said the passport was received by her wife. Their questions were based on that. She has been released on bail and asked to report on Wednesday.” One of the relatives told Kerr Fatou,”

Speaking to Kerr Fatou, Sira Touray stated that she received the passport in Farato from a man identified as Mr. Camara, who asked her to hand it over to her husband. She maintains that she had no prior knowledge about the document.

However, Police Public Relations Officer Cadet ASP Modou Musa Sissawo initially denied that Touray was arrested by the police.

“I have asked my people, but they said we are not responsible,” Sissawo stated.

Touray was was reportedly taken to the Immigration Office on Hagan Street, Banjul. Kerr Fatou has reached out to the Gambia Immigration Department for further clarification, but officials have yet to respond.
