Police Launch Investigation Into Suspected Murder in URR

The Gambia Police Force has announced an investigation into a suspected murder in Jah Kunda Village, Upper River Region (URR). The tragic incident, which occurred on December 11, 2024, involved the death of a female health worker following an assault by a fellow villager.
In a press release dated December 12, 2024, the police detailed that the incident was reported to the Sarengai Police Station by staff from the Yerobawole Health Center. Officers swiftly responded, apprehending the suspect and recovering the alleged murder weapon, a pestle. The suspect is currently in police custody, and the victim’s body has been transported to the hospital in Basse for further procedures.

The police have called on the public to report disputes or criminal activities to law enforcement authorities and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
