As part of its unwavering commitment to community welfare, Trust Bank has once again extended a helping hand to the healthcare sector by donating materials worth two hundred thousand Dalasis to the Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital.
The donation forms part of the Bank’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, aimed at strengthening healthcare facilities across The Gambia.
The donated items, valued at D200,000, include ten dozen bottles of bleach, five extension cords, reams of A4 paper, staplers, wall clocks, a water dispenser, markers, detergents, and more. These essential supplies are expected to bolster the hospital’s operations, ensuring better service delivery to patients, particularly women and children.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Omar Mboob, Deputy Managing Director of Trust Bank, reaffirmed the Bank’s dedication to supporting the Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital. He emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication to ensure that their contributions effectively meet the hospital’s needs.
“We believe that giving should not just be a gesture, but a meaningful contribution to the hospital’s most urgent priorities. For this reason, we are pleased to announce that the donation this year amounts to D200,000. This donation went towards the purchase of items that the hospital specifically requested to enhance the care provided to women during their most critical moments. This partnership is a testament to the strength of collaboration between our bank and the many healthcare providers we will be visiting in the coming days, in our bid to contribute to building a healthier and more resilient society,” Omar Mboob, Deputy Managing Director of Trust Bank.
The Chief Executive Officer of The Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital Dr. Mamadi Cham expressed profound gratitude to Trust Bank, highlighting the significance of the support in saving lives.
“Some of these things contribute to very positive outcomes for patients. I give an example in Bundung here, where we are focusing more on maternal and child health. Cleanliness is very key in delivery and the care of the newborn. Without cleanness, a mother can deliver, and either the baby or the mother or both get infected, complicating the whole process. So this is something that we want to applaud you for. Of all the banks in this country, Trust Bank is prominent among all the banks to be giving out to hospitals every year. When you give to a hospital, you give to the whole nation, because those who come there are sick people and who need support and care. So I want you to convey to the management and to the board our appreciation for this gesture,” he said.
Yassin Touray, Head of the Duty Room at the Hospital, echoed similar sentiments and called on other banks and institutions to emulate Trust Bank’s exemplary gesture.
“Your efforts are very much observed, and we see it is ongoing. For the past three years, you have been coming. So we hope it will continue forever. Because even if Dr. Cham is not around, anyone who comes in will like to work with Trust Bank. We all know what Trust Bank can do. It is our banking area for most of us. So we know it will go on forever. We would also like to urge other banks and parastatals to emulate your efforts, because giving back to a hospital, you might not know who you are saving,” she said.
