Gambian Association in Norway have donated one hundred thousand dalasis to the ongoing Truth Commission investigating the human rights violations of the former president Yahya Jammeh.
The cheque was presented to the Commission by Sheikh Tijan Nyang on Thursday. Nyang was one of the founders of the association in the 70s.
The Association, according to Nyang, has contributed to building of several schools in Gambia and continue to sponsor a number of students.
This donation came barely two months after the end of Truth Commission’s European tour. Nyang praised the Commission for its wonderful job in unearthing atrocities of the former President Jammeh.
“We do hope and pray that Justice would be done at the end of the tunnel. We continue to pray that the truth and justice expected by Gambians would happen,” said Nyang.
Meanwhile, Dr Lamin Sise, the Chairman of the Commission thanked for the Gambian Association in Norway for the good gesture.
