17-Year-Old Apprehended with Seven Wraps of Suspected Cannabis in Farafenni

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia has reported the arrest of a 17-year-old individual in Farafenni for possession of seven wraps of suspected cannabis.

According to DLEAG officials, the teenager, identified as an apprentice and resident of Farafenni, was apprehended on July 3, 2024, at approximately 17:15 GMT. The suspected cannabis was found concealed in white paper within a small bag. 

“17-year-old Allege Child Offender, a resident of Farafenni and an apprentice was arrested by Farafenni DLEAG on the 3rd of July 2024 at around 17:15 hours GMT onwards with (7) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, which is concealed in white papers and inside a small bag,” DLEAG said.

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of the Gambia (DLEAG) also reported the arrest of Mamadou Jallow, a Senegalese resident of Siliti Village, who was apprehended by the Brikama DLEAG station on July 6th at approximately 20:50 GMT. Jallow was found in possession of three large bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement papers inside a black backpack.

Additionally, DLEAG announced the arrest of Yusupha Camara, a 30-year-old painter residing in Dippa Kunda. He was apprehended by the Kotu DLEAG station on July 1st, 2024, around 22:15 GMT, with twelve pills of Ecstasy concealed in foil papers within a transparent nylon bag.

 “37-year-old Foday Gibba a resident of Lamin Village and a driver by profession, was arrested at Barra Ferry Terminal by Barra DLEAG on the 1st of July 2024 at around 21:00 hours GMT onwards with (2) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa, which are concealed in cement papers and placed inside a transparent nylon bag. 22-year-old Pa Lamin Secka a resident of Bakau and a fisherman by profession, was arrested by Tujereng Police Station on the 2nd of July 2024 at around 22:00 hours GMT onwards with (71) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, which is concealed in white papers and placed inside a red bag,” they said.

 Alagie Senghore, a resident of Abuko, was apprehended by the Anti-Crime Unit of the GPF on July 2, 2024, around 12:30 GMT. During the arrest, authorities allegedly found (13) pills of Diazepam, (2) sachets of suspected cannabis skunk, (2) sachets of suspected kush, and a cannabis sativa joint concealed within various medical sachets.

 “43 years old Bilal Sey a resident of Sinchu Alagie and a businessman by profession, was arrested by Serrekunda DLEAG station on the 4th of July 2024 at around 03:00 hours GMT onwards with (1) big bundle of suspected cannabis sativa, which is concealed in cement paper and placed inside a multicolor bag pack.

“19-year-old Dawda Barry, a resident of Tallinding and a carpenter by profession, was arrested by Tallinding DLEAG station on the 4th of July 2024 at around 10:00 hours GMT onwards with some quantities of suspected Kush, which is concealed in white papers and inside a medical sachet. 33-year-old Alieu Sillah a resident of Kololi and a businessman by profession, was arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of the GPF on the 5th of July 2024 at around 16:00 hours GMT onwards with (18) wraps of suspected Kush, which is concealed in multicolor papers,” DLEAG announced.

 Yaya Saidy, a 27-year-old resident of Sankulay Kunda, was apprehended by Bansang DLEAG station on July 7, 2024, around 12:40 hours GMT. He was found in possession of 305 wraps of cannabis skunk, 9 wraps of cannabis sativa, and D40,755.00 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from illicit activities. The items were concealed in white paper, a transparent nylon bag, and a black boom bag, according to DLEAG.

 “(4) big bundles and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa were found at Manduar football field by Brikama DLEAG station, which is concealed in cement paper, a green and white small bottle, a red and black color bag, and with a motorcycle with no registration number,” they concluded.
