Yankuba Jammeh, the spokesperson for APRC Babilli Mansa, has refuted claims that Senegalese journalist Pape Saine interviewed former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh in Equatorial Guinea.

“As the spokesperson of the APRC party under the leadership of Yahya AJJ Jammeh and the interim party leader, Hon. Yaya Tamba, I write to debunk claims by the publisher and editor of Atlantic Magazine. The said journalist, Pape Saine, claims to have been granted an interview by the former president, Sheikh Professor Dr. Alh. Yahya AJJ Jammeh. These claims are fake, false, and misleading,” he said.

He further emphasized that ex-President Jammeh has not spoken to any media outlet or journalist since he left The Gambia in January 2017.

“The media team of APRC under Babili Mansa vehemently refutes a recent viral video circulating on social media purportedly published by the Senegalese newspaper Atlantic Magazine. This news has been categorically denounced as false and baseless with the clear indication of manipulation, aimed at garnering increased attention from the Senegambian audience or readership,” he said.

The APRC Babilli Mansa executive, under the interim leadership of Hon. Yaya Tamba, along with the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the entire party membership, challenged Mr. Pape Saine to retract his claims and cease publication immediately.

“Mr. Yaya Tamba has also confirmed that the Supreme leader has not granted an interview to any journalist or media establishment since he left the soil of the Gambia. I, therefore, once again call on the Publisher Mr. Pape Saine editor and founder of Atlantic Magazine news media to retract the purported headline and desist from publishing such fake news articles about our party leader. The ex-president Jammeh has not spoken to any head of state since he left Gambia and did not grant any interview to anyone,” they concluded.
