In Brikama, tensions escalated during “Operation Clear the Roads” as vendors resisted efforts by Manneh and his team to dismantle their stalls. The chairman of the Brikama Area Council expressed his outrage on Facebook, stating, “Operation Manneh has now descended on Brikama Area Council, arresting one of our councillors, and Chairman of our Market Committee, Mamadou Jawo Jallow! This is simply unacceptable! They will have to arrest us all today!!!”
He further stated: “I’m currently held up at the Brikama District Hospital with other victims tear-gassed by Operation Manneh on the orders of President Adama Barrow! Until death take us today, we will fight to end this operation today!!!”
According to reports, the Chairman is on his way to Banjulinding police station to visit those detained during the clashes.
