Gambia clinched their second Korea Africa Cup of Nations (KAFCON) victory in Korea by triumphing over Zimbabwe with a 2-0 scoreline on October 2, 2023.

The Gambia team defeated Senegal, Ghana, and Kenya in the group stage before defeating Zimbabwe in the final to claim their second consecutive KAFCON title.

“Our group is called the Gambian Association in South Korea. We are very happy to win this cup again this year. We won the cup last year, and we repeated the same this year as well. We are very happy to have won this cup this year as well. We thank God because we are racing the Gambian flag higher in South Korea,” their assistant coach Lamin Marena told Kerr Fatou

The assistant coach also appealed to the Gambia government to help them appoint an ambassador in South Korea to make things easier for them.

“We will also take this opportunity to appeal to the government to help us with an Ambassador in South Korea. We have an Ambassador, but he is in China, which is very far from us. Gambians in South Korea are many. We will appeal to the government to see if they can look into that and help us. We will be very happy if we have an ambassador who we can also invite when we have our events here, just like the Senegalese have their own Ambassador in South Korea,” he concluded.

The Gambia team defeated the same team to clinch the title last year.
