Finance Ministry Announces €3 million Budget Support From AFD

The Gambian government has been granted €3 million in budget support by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), according to a press release from the Ministry of Finance.
The Finance Ministry announced today that €2 million (equivalent to GMD129.6 million) of the €3 million received has been credited to the consolidated revenue fund. The funds will be used to augment existing projects, foster the development of innovative initiatives, and address critical needs within the country.
The Finance Ministry announced that the remaining €1 million, equivalent to GMB 64,800,000, has been credited to the flood response donation account.
“Knowing how catastrophic the devastating impacts of floods can be, which often leave affected communities in dire need of rapid assistance, this support will ensure the timely provision of assist in mitigating the immediate effects of floods and implementing proactive measures for future preparedness in cognizance of the importance of accountability and transparency,” Finance Ministry said in a statement.
The Finance Ministry assured the public that the funds will be utilized effectively and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures, in the spirit of accountability and transparency.
