Ten independent candidates have picked up nomination forms from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Brikama Regional Office to contest for the Brikama Area Council Chairmanship in the upcoming election.
This information was provided by Faraba Janneh, the West Coast Region’s returning officer for the IEC.
“We have thirteen candidates who have collected the nomination forms, and of those thirteen candidates, we have only three candidates involved that are from political parties. That is the UDP, the NPP, and PPP. The other ten candidates are independent candidates,” the IEC returning officer for West Coast Region said.
Only one independent candidate was nominated at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) office in Brikama, as parties that were scheduled for the first day of nominations failed to turn up.
