MC Cham Jr, the Campaign Manager of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has announced his resignation from the party effective today, 16th of March 2023.
In his resignation letter MC Cham Jr said;
“I am writing this letter to resign from the party with immediate effect. As you are aware, there are so many issues I face with the party that is no longer bearable. It has gotten to the extent of deprivation of my right to association and independence as a Citizen,” MC Cham Jr said.
Mr. Cham went on to say that the party didn’t help him realize his full potential in the roles he held within, thus reducing his capacity and capabilities.
“I know some of you were very helpful in my hard times, but the problem is that the party does not respect my political stance as an individual in the Gambia and in the region.
I work for the people on social issues as a Pan African and do not compromise my values for any individual, organization, or government. I know this will hurt you and many but i hope you will forgive and accept this sudden resignation,” he concluded.
MC Cham Jr is currently in a beef with his party after the Gambia Democratic Congress wrote a disclaimer to disassociate themselves from what they claim was MC Cham’s endorsement of Senegalese opposition leader, Ousman Sonko. The GDC campaign manager however refutes their allegations before his resignation today.
