The President of the Republic of Gambia His Excellency Adama Barrow called on Teachers to address their concerns through dialogue.
” I called on teachers and others in the public service to always pursue the art of dialogue in handling their concerns”
“My government has an open door policy and will engage with its workers to reach amicable and realistic compromises on matters affecting their welfare,” he stated.
President Barrow said teaching is a noble profession and that teachers influence character formation and a safe society.
President Barrow further stated that learners excel in educational institutions because of the teachers.
President Barrow added that his government is interested in the performance of the students as it is in the welfare of the teachers.
On the issue of School Children attending the Independence Celebration, Barrow urged them to take their participation beyond the morning March pass.
“School children, boys, and girls you have always played a significant role in our Independence Anniversary Celebration. I urge you to take your participation beyond the morning parades, reflect on the significance of the day among yourselves, and strive to become a new breed of democratic citizens.
“I advise you to work hard at school, love your country, and endeavor to contribute to its development by law-abiding, grabbing the technology and opportunities before you and never despairing of success. This is an era of knowledge, and technology and seeking evidence-based situations to challenge. Be aware of this and be mindful of the consequences of your actions wherever you may be. Be proud of your motherland and its people,” President Barrow told the Students.
President Barrow made these remarks earlier on Saturday during the 58th Independence Celebration.
