Kemo Bojang Calls Commission of Inquiry Into Local Government Councils A Witchhunt
By Buba Gagigo
Kemo Bojang, youth councilor at the Knifing Municipal Council (KMC) has described the government’s commission set up to look into the conduct of the Local Government Councils as a ‘Witchhunt’.
“The issue of the commission of enquire set up to look into the dealing of LGAs is nothing but a witchhunt and every Gambian is aware of this. Are we worried for ourselves? No! Are we worried for the Gambia? Yes! Leading to our elections, President Barrow and his lot will do all they can to taint us because the UDP is the incumbent in the local government but I am sure Gambians have turned their backs on President Barrow and the NPP and will re-elect UDP principles in their different regions,” he said
He added; “Notwithstanding, it will be an embarrassing expedition for them like the first one. We are clean as whistles and our work has shown where we have invested the wealth of the people. If we cannot add to the coffers of the poor, we wouldn’t take from them. This isn’t the first time we’ve been accused of corruption, but we have always come out on top and we are sure it will be no different this time”.
The KMC Youth councilor also tells Gambians to resist and fight for the country’s ‘struggling’ democracy;
“To the Gambian people, this is not a UDP fight like I’ve always said, this is the fight to keep our struggling democracy on its feet. This is about systems that will push the mandate of the people and make sure our will is respected and not micro-managed by a small cabal,” he said.
