The Management of Trust Bank, on Monday, February 14, 2023, donated sixteen wheelchairs to the National Organization for the Disabled and orphans
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Managing Director of Trust Bank, Njilan Senghore said Trust Bank acknowledges the incredible role that the National Organization for Disabled and Orphans is playing by promoting the welfare of people with disabilities across the length and breadth of the country.
“Mobility is part of our daily activities. We spend a significant portion of our day moving around; from our homes to our workplaces or schools and taking care of the myriad of activities required in our everyday lives.
In fact, for most of us, we take mobility for granted – a basic right that we enjoy without thought but today we remember that so many of our beloved sisters and brothers cannot enjoy these rights because they have mobility impairments. Let us remember that people with mobility impairments are particularly vulnerable in societies like ours that do not normally cater for an adequate supply of assistive devices like wheelchairs, access to transportation, and even access to buildings.
“Without access to wheelchairs, these sections of our society experience great limitations and may even tend to lose opportunities of going to school, work and participate in social activities.
We at Trust Bank acknowledge the incredible role that the National Organization for Disabled and Orphans is playing by promoting the welfare of people with disabilities across the length and breadth of the country. We are also extremely grateful for your efforts in providing encouragement and hope to parents who are dedicating their lives to raising children with disabilities,” she said.
She added that through the efforts of the organization, a significant number of disabled children have been able to go to schools and participate in social activities using donated wheelchairs.
“Through your efforts, a significant number of disabled children have become able to go to schools and participate in social activities by using donated wheelchairs. We also understand that these wheelchairs will be sent to beneficiaries across the length and breadth of this country and we are super excited about this because it resonates with our desire as a proudly Gambian Bank to positively touch the lives of Gambians across this Country.
The Chairman and Secretary General of the National Organizations for the Disabled and Orphans, Lamin Manneh thanked Trust Bank for the gesture
“These sixteen wheelchairs will go a long way in enhancing our mobility, giving us an opportunity to continue to develop and contribute our quarter to the socio-economic development of the country,” he said.
