Minister Jammeh Hopeful GRTS DG Issue Will Be Resolved Before End Of This Week

Lamin Queen Jammeh, The Minister of Information, said he is hopeful that the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) Director General (DG) issue will be resolved before end of this week.
“It was true, but the decision has been put on hold. The reason it has been put on hold is because there are some administrative issues. Once they are cleared and decided, the final decision will be released to the public. But so far that is the situation. DG Jeng had been engaged on contract, and it is his contract period which is about to expire and that would certainly require that a new Director General be appointed, or his contract renewed. I am confident that it will be resolved by the end of the week. It would not take more than a week. Within this week, I am sure it will be finalized,” Minister Jammeh told Kerr Fatou.
There was a dramatic development in the appointment of the GRTS Director General, with an alleged new directive given to the Ministry of Information by the President’s Chief of Staff to withdraw the appointment letter and thus rescind the appointment of Abubakar Darboe to the top position at the public broadcaster.
