Fact Check Center-The Gambia Launches Official Website

Fact Check Center-The Gambia officially launched its website on Wednesday morning at its head office at the Brusubi Turntable.
“I am honored to be speaking to you today on the launching of our Fact-checking website. This milestone is attained today courtesy of support rendered by the US Embassy, Banjul, The Gambia. The creation of this website will enhance our work, connect us beyond the corners of The Gambia and provide accurate, reliable, and credible information to the public,” Executive Director, Omar Saibo Camara said.
Mr. Camara said the ultimate target of the Center is to ensure access to accurate and reliable information, uphold peace and peaceful elections, and encourage government accountability and transparency to promote good democratic governance and respect for human rights values in The Gambia.
While he thanked the US Embassy for funding the development of this website, he described the launch of the website as an important step in the fight against fake news and disinformation;
“The launch of this website marks an important step in the fight against fake news and disinformation. We must all work together to protect our democracy and ensure that the public has access to accurate information.
I take this opportunity to thank the US embassy, in Banjul for supporting and funding the development of this website. This truly shows your commitment to Promoting Democratic Governance, Peace, and a Disinformation Free Society. I will also like to thank the Center for Research and Policy Development for their continuous support and partnership in the work we do. Finally, to my team, thank you for your unquestionable commitments in this Worthy Stride,” he said.
The Fact check Center The Gambia is a non-governmental and nonpartisan Organization established in August 2021 to combat misinformation, disinformation and hate speech in The Gambia.
