The United Democratic Party (UDP)’s Campaign Manager, Momodou Sabally, said he slept on a bare floor at the country’s Anti-crime Unit in Bijilo.

“The first night they took me to Anti-Crime Unit in Banjulinding which is a place they took hardened criminals to. I slept on a bare floor and then the following day they took me to the PIU headquarters where they provided me with a mattress. No one harassed me among the police officers,” he told BBC on Friday.

Asked Whether he will take legal action against his arrest; he said “I still have to talk to my lawyer but what I know is beyond me because the whole nation stood in support of me”.

He added; “For the past ten days I was sitting in one place. I was not Charged, they went through the back door to file an exparte motion to seek judicial authority to detain me without informing me, without informing my lawyer, and without giving us the option to stand in court and defend a right that is entrenched in our constitution”.

The United Democratic Party (UDP) Campaign Manager was released yesterday after spending ten days under police custody.
