The Secretary General and Party leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) said the 2023 National Budget is crafted for the benefit of President Adama Barrow and his friends in the executive, legislative branches as well as private sector operators lined up for bids and contracts at the detriment of taxpayers
“This government has destroyed the economy with rising inflation with daily increases in prices of basic commodities, high unemployment, unsustainable debt and deficit, a health sector that is a death trap for a lot of patients and an agriculture sector that is neglected and unable to feed even a small fraction of the population.
“What then are the priorities of the Barrow administration? It definitely is NOT YOU the Gambian people. You only have to look at the terrible budget they have just passed in Parliament and see how they have crafted it for Adama Barrow and his friends in the executive, legislative branches as well as private sector operators lined up for bids and contracts. All at the expense of we the Gambians to whom the money belongs. All these are prove that Adama Barrow and his allies are only interested in what they can take from your resources to enrich themselves,” the UDP leader said.
The Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) made these remarks on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in Janjanbureh where his party conducted its National Congress.
