The Secretary General and Leader of the new People’s Alliance Party (PAP), Ebrima Tabora Manneh said the Gambia’s security should be 100% controlled by its citizens.

“Our security should be 100% controlled by our own people. Just look at the way our security sector is, we are having a lot of challenges in our security sector,” he said.

Manneh added that just like the security, the Gambia’s economic sector should be handled fully by its citizens.

“Some sectors of the economy can be handled by other people, but the security must be controlled by Gambians, from our borders, streets, and every part of the country. That is an area we should never compromised with,  because our security sector is very important in the country’s development,” the PAP leader told journalists at his maiden presser on Wednesday.

The Secretary General and Leader of Peoples’ Alliance Party (PAP) made the remarks following the successful registration of the party by the Independent Electoral Commission on Monday.

Meanwhile, the PAP leader, Ebrima Tabora Manneh, is one of the sons of the late chief of Lower Nuimi, Alhagie Tobara Manneh.

The new party, People’s Alliance Party (PAP) is the 19th political party so far registered in the country by the commission.
