The Gambia Football Federation GFF on Tuesday announced it will give a preliminary D250, 000 each to the Gambia Armed Forces football team and Hawks F.C ahead of their respective Caf competitions , the Champions League and the Confederations Cup.
The Gambian Armed Forces FC as League champions will face Zanaco FC of Zambia while FF Cup Winners Hawks FC takes on Akwa United of Nigeria. The first legs of the teams’ preliminary stages will be in February with both teams playing away before the return legs at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Officials of Gambia Armed Forces FC and Hawks thanked the GFF for such a wonderful contribution and described the gesture as unprecedented. They both promised to do well in the various championships as they continue to prepare well ahead of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
The Gambia Football Federation will also take charge of each of the team’s local accommodation at the Football Hotel in Yundum on full board and will as well finance the indemnities of the match Officials during the home legs.
