Brooklyn Park City Council in the state of Minnesota, United States of America, has approved a Sister-City Agreement with the Banjul City Council in The Gambia.
The relationship followed the visit to the city of Brooklyn Park in June of this year by the Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe.
“My sincere appreciation to my counterpart and sister, the mayor of Brooklyn Park, the councilors and staff for their unanimous support and vote for a Sister-City Agreement with the City of Banjul,” Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Mayor thanked the Gambian Community in Brooklyn Park led by its President, Mr. Dampha.
“I salute you for your unflinching support and commitment for this to happen. Once again on behalf of the City Councillors and the people of Banjul, I convey my sincere gratitude, especially to the youths and women who are the main beneficiaries when it comes to education, sports, and entrepreneurship. Be rest assured that we are committed, and together we must change our communities,” the Banjul Mayor said.
Mayor Lowe said this is one of the achievements of her tour of the United States of America and predicts more to come in the future.
“This is one of the achievements of my American tour, and more is underway. To the American mission in The Gambia, led by H. E. Ambassador Sharon Cromer, thank you for giving me the opportunity to bring this to the doorsteps of my people in the City of Banjul. God Bless You, Ma,” she said.
