SSHFC staff’s board rep. handed termination letter
The staff representative on the board of Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation has been given his letter of termination, barely a week after his firing has been ordered by President Adama Barrow.
The Gambian leader ordered for the firing of Momodou Camara about a week ago as he implemented the recommendations of the independent panel that investigated the 3-month standoff between a section of the staff and the managing director of the institution, Muhammed Manjang.
The staff of the Social Security, dozens of whom are currently on a sit-down strike, have said on Wednesday that they are unhappy with the decision of the president.
The staff accused Manjang of benefit fraud and wrote an open letter to President Barrow asking him to reconsider his decision.
“You are therefore now required to do the handing over as we process your benefit,” stated the letter from the board of the institution dated 15 November, 2018.
