The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) is mourning the death of its expert trainer Jean Echocola who died in a fetal car-crash on Sunday afternoon while returning from a wrestling event in Kajakel in Cassamance.

“The Gambia Wrestling Association learned with total shock and dismay the death of formal coach/trainer Jean Echocola. He was reported to have been involved in a fetal accident on Sunday afternoon while returning from a wrestling event. Jean was recently in The Gambia as an expert trainer in a two-day workshop organized by GWA and partners.

“Jean will be greatly missed not only by The Gambia but Senegal and Africa as a whole. He was a humble and hardworking person who was willing to share his knowledge with all,” the Gambia Wrestling Association said in a statement on Facebook on Monday.

The association on behalf of the wrestling stakeholders extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
