The Scorpions and AS Roma midfielder, Ebrima Darboe said the Sylli National of Guinea are a strong team, but they are ready to fight.
“We know Guinea have a very strong team and they have good players. But we are also ready to fight,” Darboe said.
Later today, the Scorpions will lock horns with the Sylli National of Guinea Conakry in the round of 16 of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021).
Talking about the family bond between the players in the Scorpions squad, the midfielder said they are like brothers who fight for each other.
“As a team, oneness is very important, so we try to always maintain this togetherness. We don’t show off ourselves that someone is playing here and another is playing there. For us, whether you are playing in a big team or not, that doesn’t make any difference. We are all together as a team, as brothers, we support each other and fight for each other,” he said.
The kick-off between the two teams will be at 16:00 GMT in Cameroon today (Monday).
Darboe, born in Bakoteh, Serekunda, who at 14, travelled to Sicily in Italy through ‘the backway’ after crossing from Libya; and joined the Serie A side (AS Roma) in 2017, before making his debut 2 years later. Then signed his maiden professional contract at 18.
He was called to the national team in 2020 but made his debut last year. Since then, he has been significantly contributing to the progress of the Scorpions.
