14 communities get new ambulances
President Adama Barrow has on Friday presided over the distribution of ambulances to 14 different communities across the country.
The ambulances which are a replacement of the last batch submitted in 2009, came through a partnership between Riders for Health and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
President Barrow applauded the partnership between the two institutions while emphasizing that the health and wellbeing of Gambians remains a top priority for his government.
He urged for the vehicles to be well maintained for availability and reliability in the promotion of health.
According to the health Minster Dr. Isatou Touray, the ambulances are a response to the needs of the beneficiary communities to enhance access, effectiveness, and timely delivery of services to the communities.
Riders for Health Director, Therese Drammeh commended the government for a genuine partnership and gave assurance of continued and beneficial partnership.
The beneficiary communities are: Kuntair, Garawol, Yorobawol, Foday Kunda, , Kwinella, Illiassa, Diabugu, Kerr Cherno, Demba Kunda, Sarakunda, Kerewan, Njaba Kunda and Ngail Sanjal.
