61-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Gun and Drug Possession

The Gambia Police Force has announced the arrest of a 61-year-old foreign national in connection with the possession of illicit drugs and an unlicensed firearm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
In a statement issued to the press, the police disclosed that the arrest followed a collaborative patrol operation involving officers from the Siffoe Police Station, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the State Intelligence Service (SIS), and other agencies at Siffoe Beach.
“A joint patrol involving officers from Siffoe Police Station, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, SIS, and other agencies at Siffoe Beach has led to the arrest of a 61-year-old foreign national for possession of alleged prohibited drugs and unlicensed pistol on Wednesday, January 15, 2025,” the police said.
According to the police statement, the operation led to the discovery of 10 wraps of cannabis, which prompted officers to search the suspect’s residence. There, they uncovered additional cannabis, an unlicensed PT 111 G2, 9mm pistol, two magazines, and 82 rounds of live ammunition.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Gambia Police Force urges the public to report any suspicious activities to support efforts to maintain public safety.
