Today, as Gambia mark 60 years of independence, we should be celebrating a nation that has risen from the chains of colonial rule into a beacon of self-governance, development, and prosperity. Instead, what do we see? A country drowning in corruption, incompetence, poverty, and suffering—a nation betrayed by its own leaders. This day should not be one of blind celebration, but one of deep national mourning for the hopes shattered, the dreams crushed, and the future stolen from generations of Gambians.

60 years of failure. 60 years of squandered potential. 60 years of leadership that has enriched the few while leaving the majority in misery.

What has self-rule brought the Gambia?
A country where children go to bed hungry, where hospitals lack basic medicine, where clean water is a privilege, where jobs are nonexistent, & where the youth risk death in the mediterranean sea in search of dignity. This is not independence. This is enslavement to greed, mismanagement, and an unrelenting culture of theft & deception by those entrusted with power.

So today i Call for Leadership and Revolutionary Change

Gambians, its time to ask yourself: Is this the Gambia the founding fathers envisioned? Did they struggle for independence only for the people to become enslaved to their own rulers? The answer is clear: Gambians have been failed, again and again, by those who swore to serve.

The time for excuses is over. The time for complacency is over. The time for radical change is now.

Gambians do not need another five years of corrupt, visionless, self-serving leadership. We do not need another government that will continue to plunder the nation’s resources and treat Gambians as beggars in their own land. What the country need is a leadership that is honest, accountable, & capable—a leadership that puts the Gambian people first.

We must demand:
✅ An end to corruption—starting with the full investigation of all stolen public funds.
✅ A real economic plan—not just more borrowing and reckless spending.
✅ Investment in agriculture and industry—to create jobs and reduce our dependence on imports.
✅ A functioning healthcare system—where no woman has to fear dying during childbirth.
✅ A security system that protects all Gambians—not just the privileged elite.

The power for revolutionery change lies in the hands of the Gambian people

This is not just another Independence Day. This is a moment of reckoning. Every Gambian must look into the eyes of our children and ask ourselves: What kind of future are we leaving them?

If the people do not stand up now, they will remain prisoners of their own leaders. If the people do not demand better, they will continue to suffer under governments that see them as nothing more than stepping stones to their own wealth and power.

Gambia does not need another Independence Day filled with empty speeches, wasteful parades, & false promises. Gambia needs a revolution—a revolution of governance, of accountability, & of true independence from corruption & incompetence.

Enough is enough and to the thieves, the corrupt officials, the power-hungry elites who have sold the nation for personal gain—we say:

YOUR TIME IS UP !!
