2020 Tokyo Olympics: GNOC Congratulates Njie Despite Losing In First Round

The Gambia National Olympic Committee [GNOC] has congratulated Faye Njie, despite losing in the first round at the Olympics, earlier today.

“Njie lost after 3 minutes 53 seconds by Ippon [a fighting technique in Judo]. Despite losing in the first round, we are so much proud of his accomplishments.

“Congratulations for your second appearance in the Olympics,” the committee said on Facebook today.

The Gambian Judoka, Njie, lost to Makhmadbekov from Tajikistan earlier today in the opening at the delayed games in Tokyo, Japan.

Despite the loss, Faye Njie, remains Gambia and Africa’s number 2 in 73kg.

He is one of the four athletes representing the Gambia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
